Looking for an affordable, family-friendly event to kick off the long holiday weekend? The Las Vegas Aviators, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, will host intrastate rival, the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in their inaugural “Fireworks Extravaganza” at Las Vegas Ballpark. Fireworks display will follow the game.

Want a real slice of Americana for the 4th of July? Boulder City’s 71st Annual Damboree Celebration begins with a 7:00 AM Rotary pancake breakfast at Bicentennial Park, followed by the 9:00 AM 4th of July parade which begins at Colorado Street, and follows a route down Nevada Highway to 5th Street, to Broadbent Memorial Park at Avenue B and 6th Street.
Festivities continue from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Broadbent Memorial Park with the Damboree ceremonies, games, contests, midway booths, food, drinks and more. From 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, head over to Veterans Memorial Park for more fun including a beer booth, water park, food and games. Fireworks start at 9:00 PM, followed by music by DJ Mike Pacini.

Before you get your party on, start the 4th of July off on a healthy note. This 5k run takes place at Floyd Lamb Park a 2,040-acre park centered on Tule Springs, in northwest Las Vegas. As you run, take in the lake and mountain views, beautiful vegetation and wildlife including ducks, geese, heron and even peacocks.

Each participant will receive a short sleeve race t-shirt and a finisher’s medal.

5K Awards – Overall Male and Female and the top 3 in the following male and female age groups: 9 and under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.
