Vegas can still do budget Strip stays — especially Sunday–Thursday outside mega-conventions, fight weekends, and holidays. The trap is comparing only the flashing room rate. Add the resort fee, tax, and any parking before you celebrate.

How to actually find a cheap Strip night
- Be flexible on midweek dates.
- Sort by total price (room + resort fee + tax).
- South Strip value cluster (Excalibur, Luxor, NYNY) and center Caesars value cluster (Flamingo, Harrah’s, LINQ, Horseshoe) often compete for the lowest total.
- North Strip (STRAT, Circus Circus, Sahara) can win on rate but costs more time/rideshare to center Strip.
- Book refundable when possible; rebook if the rate drops.

Value Strip hotels to check first
Excalibur (south Strip)
Castle-themed MGM property, walkable to Luxor/Mandalay Bay tram and the NYNY / Park MGM corridor. Family-friendly energy, Tournament of Kings, easy MGM Rewards. Resort fees on value MGM properties have recently tracked toward the lower end of the ~$45–$55 Strip band in 2026 aggregators — confirm live.
Luxor
Pyramid landmark, connected by free tram toward Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. Basic rooms, strong “I’m on the Strip” feeling for the money. Good if your shows are south (MJ ONE at Mandalay Bay, etc.).
Circus Circus
Often among the lowest advertised rates on the Strip. Adventuredome and free circus acts help families. Farther north — plan monorail/rideshare/Deuce for center Strip nights.
Flamingo / Harrah’s / The LINQ (center Caesars row)
Prime walkability to Bellagio fountains, Cosmo, Paris, and the LINQ Promenade / High Roller. Rooms are older-Vegas renovated rather than ultra-luxe — location is the product. Check Caesars Rewards offers.
Planet Hollywood / Paris
Still land mid-Strip deals when calendars are soft. Miracle Mile Shops and Paris’s Eiffel views add free wandering value. See first-timer stay guide.
Horseshoe Las Vegas
Former Bally’s footprint, center-east Strip. Often priced with other Caesars value hotels — compare total with Flamingo/Harrah’s on the same dates.
The STRAT
North end, big views, thrill rides. Cheap rooms show up often; budget time to get downtown or center Strip.
SAHARA Las Vegas (not “SLS”)
North Strip, monorail stop, modern rooms after the rebrand. Sometimes pricier than Circus Circus but nicer product — compare totals.
Fontainebleau Las Vegas
Newer north Strip luxury — not a “cheapest rooms” pick most weekends, but soft midweeks can surprise. Worth a glance if you want new-build comfort; don’t assume bargain.
Do not book these as cheap Strip hotels (closed)
- Tropicana Las Vegas — closed April 2, 2024 for the Athletics ballpark / Ballpark District. Any leftover “Tropicana $28 rooms” content is wrong.
- The Mirage — closed July 17, 2024; Hard Rock redevelopment. Not a hotel stay until Hard Rock opens (targeted later this decade).

If a midweek room shows $40 and the resort fee is ~$50 before tax, you’re already near $90+ before lodging tax. A “$70” room with a similar fee can be the better deal if the product/location is stronger. Always run the full folio math.
